昨年に引き続き、陶芸家・石井直人氏の個展を開催いたします。
丹波の土地に根ざしながら、遥か古代へと意識は潜り、ユーラシア大陸を経て西洋へ。
此世と彼世、世界の輪郭さえも朧げに、窯の中から立ち現れる未知の豊かな現象。
本展では、小さな器から土鍋まで、未発表の茶盌から蔵王権現像に至るまで、さまざまな文化の古層を横断し、
未踏の領域へと踏み込む氏の作品を、すべて等価なものとして kankakari 館内に展示いたします。
積み重なる知と手の営み。形而上の結晶ともいえる、味わい深いやきものを、ぜひご高覧ください。

この度の窯は、2025年11月に50時間焼成にて行いました。
一年半掛けて制作したものを、この3日間で一気に登り窯で松の薪のみで焼成します。
土での成形は、思い浮かぶもの順に作ってゆく過程ですが、完成が見えないものに向かってゆっくり走るような感覚です。
窯を焚いてようやく土が形を成し、やきものができあがります。
今年は、蔵王権現という表象を成形し窯に委ねてみました。
窯の時間には、一筋の煌々とした光が窯に幾度となく差し込み、煙を象徴的に浮かび上がらせ、窯を焚く人々をも励ましました。
宇宙からの加護をいただいたような、何か超越的な時間と次元を体現した瞬間でした。
窯の中で炎と共に充満した何かの作用が、今回の窯で形作られたもの全てに宿っているように感じています。

Naoto Ishii Exhibition

We are pleased to present a solo exhibition of ceramic artist Naoto Ishii, following last year’s exhibition.
Rooted in the land of Tamba, Ishii’s consciousness reaches back to ancient times, traversing the Eurasian continent toward the West. Blurring the boundaries between this world and the other, even the contours of the world itself, unknown and richly layered phenomena emerge from within the kiln.
This exhibition features works ranging from small vessels to earthenware pots, from previously unseen tea bowls to a newly created image of Zao Gongen. Crossing the ancient strata of diverse cultures and venturing into unexplored realms, Ishii’s works will be presented throughout kankakari as equal presences.
Accumulated knowledge and the labor of the hand—ceramics that may be described as metaphysical crystallizations, imbued with profound depth. We warmly invite you to view the exhibition.

This kiln firing took place in November 2025 and lasted for 50 hours. Works created over the course of a year and a half were fired all at once in a climbing kiln fueled solely by pine wood.
Shaping the clay follows the order of what comes to mind, like slowly running toward something whose completion cannot yet be seen. Only through the firing does the clay truly take form, and ceramics come into being.
This year, I formed an image of Zao Gongen and entrusted it to the kiln. During the firing, a single radiant beam of light entered the kiln repeatedly, illuminating the rising smoke and encouraging those tending the fire. It felt as though we were receiving protection from the cosmos—a moment embodying a transcendent dimension of time and space.
I sense that whatever force filled the kiln together with the flames now resides within all the works shaped in this firing.
