2026.10.10 sat – 20 tue
13:00–18:00
closed 14 wed

Yoshinori Yano Solo Exhibition
2026.10.10 sat – 20 tue
13:00–18:00
closed 14 wed
We are pleased to announce an exhibition of wood sculptures by wood artist Yoshinori Yano.
This is the first exhibition to focus on Yano’s “plant sculptures,” a series he has continued to create alongside his other works.
Carefully observing plants he encounters in his everyday surroundings, Yano translates them into delicate wood sculptures.
These works are traces of his deep dialogue with nature, and are created slowly and thoughtfully rather than indiscriminately.
The first work to arrive for this exhibition was a small sculpture of a wasp’s nest hanging from a single branch.
A paper wasp nest is formed by gathering wood fibers and mixing them with saliva. There is no intention to create beauty, nor any pursuit of a perfected form. Yet within this quiet act of building for survival, a distinctive and compelling form emerges.
The plants Yano observes, too, bear traces of time shaped by life itself.
They bloom, are eaten by insects, decay, and eventually decompose. Within this cycle, fleeting moments reveal both the vitality and fragility of life. It seems that Yano seeks to preserve these moments within wood.
Alongside the plant sculptures, the exhibition will feature mobiles shaped like leaves, as well as pieces of wood with a presence reminiscent of stone, placed throughout the interior spaces of kankakari.
Small fragments of wood, carefully gathered through the artist’s attentive engagement with nature.
We invite you to experience the quiet landscapes and subtle phenomena that emerge from them.
